xc and the things to do on weekends

another weekend has passed. another weekend spent in paris. we need to get out of this city soon or else G and i will go crazy. last year we have spent almost every weekend somewhere else (mostly in small towns) and this year we have spent every weekend stuck in paris. where's the lurvvv???

so yesterday, we decided to brave the heavy snowfall (of all the weekends, we chose this fateful dreadful day) and go to the library to check out some books about going around ile de france. if you can't beat them, join them! this month, and this month only, i was able to get a bus/train pass for 3 zones (normally i only get 2 zones) so it's a chance for us to explore the interesting places around paris. we wouldn't have to go far..a 10 minute train ride would take us to the forest and it's not gonna be too expensive.

and today, thanks to the books we got from the library yesterday, we went to our first venture in ile de france...the meudon forest. armed with our trusty cameras, bags, hiking boots and city guide, we took a 10 minute RER ride to meudon la fleury. actually if we had a car, we could have driven straight from our street and arrive at the same place in 5 minutes or so.

most of the interesting places were closed though because of the snow yesterday and we arrived late in the afternoon that we didn't have time to actually enter into the forest. we just went around the city which was surprisingly very pretty. so the adventure wasn't really an adventure in it's proper sense. it was more a leisurely walk around a small town but it made us go out of our warm cozy flat for the first time in weeks.

although we arrived home tired and hungry, we felt we accomplished something this weekend and we plan to continue exploring the small towns around paris during the weekends we spend here at home.

next weekend, we shall try to go to provins, a small medieval town 1h30 minutes by train from here. it's a unesco heritage site so we are hoping it's gonna be picturesque. and we're also hoping that the weather's gonna cooperate with us this time around.

peace & luv,
xc
