it's autumn here now. during the week it usually rains, it's usually dull and gray. but there are some days where the sun graces us with its presence and brightens up the mood of all parisians. good thing these days are usually weekends. horay! it also means that most parisians are out and about, making the most out of the last days of the indian summer...including us!!
and for us it means...garden lunch with the girls!!
one of our friends bought seafood from her local market. it wasn't as good as ours of course (and by ours I mean philippines, and by philippines, i mean roxas), and not as cheap either, but it was really good and really fresh. we had small gray shrimp, prawns, rock lobster, oysters, clams, and more clams. by they way, we ate the oysters and clams raw. well, i ate the oysters and they ate the raw clams. i still think clams should be cooked before eating.
since she supplied the food and wine, g and i brought dessert. a lemon meringue pie from our boulangerie. our friend lives outside paris and it took us 45 minutes to get to her place. but we still got the pie from our boulangerie instead of some random one near her place. it's a good thing we decided to buy it there since it was really really good lemony creamy that i now think this is one of my favorite pies.
on top you have a raspberry, a blackberry, a strawberry, a slice of fig (i got that one), des grosailles (don't know what that is in english), and somekinda weird fruit that our friend says is actually very good (she obviously got that one).
i don't like plain lemon pies, i find those too tart. but add a good serving of meringue on top and the sweetness of the meringue mixes with the tartness of the lemon cream filling. it's just heavenly. one whole pie for four people after a good meal of fresh seafood and good wine in a beautiful garden under the warm sun.
haaaayyyyy i miss summer.
peace and luv,
xc

okay, that meringue pie is a serious threat to my salivatory glands (or something like that)
