we don't have a washing machine in the flat yet. we've actually looked around already but we haven't chosen the model yet. maybe we were wishing that once a week, all our laundry will suddenly be done and we will always have a good stock of nice smelling clean sheets, clothes, and most importantly socks. subconscious procrastinating. or hoping for a laundry fairy godmother...with just one swish of her magic wand the dirty pile of clothes in the corner will turn into a neat pile of folded and ironed clean ones.
we actually have that in the Philippines...it's called the laundry shop. With just one swish of the telephone, someone comes up to your flat and gets your laundry comes back the next day with a nice folded pile of clean ones.
there are laundry shops here except that you do it yourself...or if you want it pinoy style, you pay 3x as much.
last night, reality set in...we needed to do the laundry. so the mister and i stuffed 2 ikea bags full of clothes and sheets and lugged the 18kg (plus the bottle of detergent) all the way to the laundry shop at the corner.
we spent 2 hours for all 18kg and we only dried the sheets and 2 pairs of socks (very important). the rest we lugged back home and hung out to dry on the balcony.
prices for the machines at our local laverie (Boulevard Voltaire, 92130):
- 7 Kg = €4.90
- 10 Kg = €7.40
- 18 Kg = €9.20
- 25 Kg dryer of 8 minutes = €1.00
peace and luv,
xc
