do you fondue?
we did! and home-made too.
we had dinner at g's ex-colleague's place friday night and it was y-u-m-m-y. i haven't had fondue since my last trip to gruyere in switzerland a few years back and i was surprised that this was what they prepared. no wonder his friend kept on asking if i liked cheese.
as if he needed to ask. in g's own words "yeah, i have to keep our cheese locked in our ref all the time". talk about supporting your mate. so there you go, 3 kinds of cheeses melted in white wine. can you say cheese lover's paradise?
not only did we get good food but we also got good stuff. his friend now has his own company importing african products and he has Tons of ethnic goodness stocked in his flat. and since he's going back there to re-stock in a few days, he decided to give us some of his stuff as wedding presents.
we went home at 3am with bags full of goodies: i got an awesome necklace, a nice african bag, we got a tapisserie, a painting he bought off the streets of nigeria, some jewelry boxes made of camel hide, and a coffee set and a clock made out of an old gramophone record (the last 2 were the real wedding gifts).
i had a really great time and we are definitely inviting them over soon...once our flat's renovation is done and we've gotten rid of the boxes and papers all over.
peace and luv,
xc
